Tyreek Hill met the media on Sunday afternoon following the Miami Dolphins’ 20-17 Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and responded to a question asking about his detainment by Miami-Dade police while heading to the game.

“I want to figure out a way to flip this and make it a positive on both ends, on my end, and also Miami-Dade, so that way we can continue to build and do something positive for our community,” Hill said.

Hill declined to go into specifics about the incident because he was “still trying to put it all together”, but did imply that things could have taken a different turn for someone without his status.

“I do want to be able to use this platform to say, like, what if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill, bro? Like, worst-case scenario,” he said. “I want to be a cop one day (so) I’ve got to stay true to all of that … but obviously, everybody has bad apples in every situation, so I want to be able to use this platform to figure out who I’m going to be.”

Hill had a game-high 7 catches for 130 yards, adding a touchdown during the Dolphins’ come-from-behind win against the Jaguars. He appeared to further refer to Sunday morning’s incident via a post on X:

Meanwhile, one of the officers connected to the incident was put on adminstrative leave by Miami-Dade police pending further investigation, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.
