Tom Brady, like many football fans, initially laughed at the idea of Bill Belichick coaching college football and having to recruit high school kids. Belichick, however, has signed up to do just that. The legendary NFL head coach is the new headman at North Carolina.

On Sunday, Brady shared some thoughts on Belichick’s decision to take the UNC job.

“Kind of blew me away when I heard the news, I didn’t think that was an opportunity he was looking at,” Brady said. “They’re getting, obviously, a tremendous coach. Being in that locker room with him … for as many years, those guys are gonna play very hard. He’s gonna coach them well, and it’s a great benefit for all those players who are going to that program. Because they’re getting the best coach that [the] NFL has ever seen. Now he’s at a college level.”

Few know Belichick as well as Brady. The two made a legendary coach-and-player pair with the New England Patriots for 20 seasons (2000-19).

Belichick’s Patriots, with Brady at quarterback, went to 9 Super Bowls and won 6 rings over a legendary run. In those Super Bowls, Brady was the big game’s MVP 4 times. After his time in New England, Brady would go on to Tampa Bay, where he won his 7th Super Bowl and picked up his 5th Super Bowl MVP. Belichick remained with the Patriots through the 2023 season and did not coach in 2024.
