As the sun rises on another college football season, Hugh Freeze remains off the sidelines following his 2017 resignation because of calls to escort services on a phone issued by Ole Miss.

The former Rebels’ head coach has kept himself busy. He gave an interview Thursday to SiriusXM ESPNU radio host Rachel Baribeau claiming he was in the middle of playing golf while doing it.

He has also spoken out publically on a number of occasions, making it clear that the scandal at Ole Miss has made him closer with his family and he’s leaning on his faith to get through it.

Freeze also wants to find his way back to the sidelines of a football field, telling Baribeau he has been doing some consulting.

“I certainly want to get back into coaching,” he said. “I’m doing some consulting here and there for some different schools and Jill and I are doing a good bit of speaking.”

She then asked if he was at liberty to say who he was consulting for.

“I’d rather not,” Freeze said. “It gets blown out of proportion every time I say that. I’ve been fortunate to travel to several good places with good people. I don’t think I make a huge difference.”

If he’s already consulting, it might only be a matter of time before some school takes a chance on Freeze, who has three bowl wins including a Sugar Bowl victory to his credit. He also did a little salesmanship on his skills as a coach.

“I do think I have some great ideas offensively and I’ve got some more I haven’t used yet,” he said. “Having a year off you can really come up with a lot of things and think it’s going to be really good when you have a chance to run it.”
