Lane Kiffin says NIL deals need to be controlled, jokingly calls out Texas A&M

Lane Kiffin has never been shy about sharing his opinions. So, ahead of National Signing Day, he delivered some more strong takes.
When asked about the state of Name, Image and Likeness deals in the NCAA, Kiffin said Ole Miss doesn’t have the resources to compete with schools with deeper pockets.
Kiffin specifically joked about Texas A&M having to pay a luxury tax for shelling out so much money to recruits:
Lane Kiffin: "Somehow, they’re going to have to control NIL. You’ve got these salary caps. (Schools) giving players millions to sign before they play and other places not able to do that. What would the NFL look like if two or three teams could pay 10 times more in salary cap?"

Lane Kiffin: "There are schools with no shot to recruit certain players. If a class has an avg of $25M, that’s $1M a person. In NFL free agency, players go to the most money. These players are 17 & 18, they’re going to go where they get paid most. You’ve legalized paying players"

Kiffin makes a good point about the NFL salary cap, but for now, teams are free to do as they see fit.
If Texas A&M wants to use the new NIL rules to pay a lot for the No. 1-rated recruiting class, it is well within its rights to do so at the moment. We’ll see if the NCAA steps in and addresses things the way Kiffin wants.
