Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss lost for the first time this season Saturday.

The Rebels jumped out to an early 17-3 lead at LSU, but the Tigers roared back to win, 45-20.

No. 15 Ole Miss is back on the road this Saturday for a game at Texas A&M, which is struggling at 3-4 on the season.

On Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference, Kiffin was asked about former Ole Miss and current A&M defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin.

“D.J. really turned around our defense here and played really good, especially the second half of last year,” Kiffin said. “We tried to keep him because he did a great job. … Got outbid. Kind of a common theme with that program. He’s doing a really good job there. They’re very multiple and doing a lot of good things.”

Wow. “Got outbid. Kind of a common theme with that program.”

Kiffin is never one to hold his tongue, but that shot at Texas A&M wasn’t even veiled, which should add a little fuel to the fire Saturday night.
