Matt Corral and the Ole Miss Rebels look like a team that’s going to contend for the SEC Championship through 3 weeks.

So much hype centered around Corral and Lane Kiffin’s offense entering the season, and somehow, Corral is managing to surpass the expectations.

Sure, the teams haven’t been great — Louisville, Austin Peay and Tulane, but take nothing away from the electrifying offense, led by the quarterback play, and the much-improved defense.

Corral did it again Saturday night in the 61-21 win over Tulane. He finished the game 23-of-31 for 335 yards and 3 passing touchdowns, along with 68 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. That’s right — he combined for 7 touchdowns in the game.

The Rebels quarterback became the first player in SEC history with 3 passing touchdowns and 4 rushing touchdowns in a single game. He also tied Showboat Boykin for the most touchdowns in a single Ole Miss game in school history with 7.

Running back Jerrion Ealy also added 15 rushes for 105 yards. Receivers Jonathan Mingo, Baylon Sanders and Dontario Drummond all recorded touchdown receptions in the rout.

The Rebels are on a bye week next Saturday, and then, they travel to No. 1 Alabama on October 2. That game is destined for greatness.
