Five days after decommitting from Georgia, four-star wideout Van Jefferson verbally committed to coach Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss on Sunday during a last-minute unofficial visit to Oxford, Miss., for the Tennessee native.

โ€œItโ€™s just a home environment,โ€ Jefferson told 247Sports’ Barton Simmons. โ€œGoing to play down there at Ole Miss with Quincy (Adeboyejo) and Laquon (Treadwell) and Evan (Engram), those guys are going to be something special.”

Oklahoma had a shot at Jefferson after last weekend’s official visit, but Jefferson finally received his father’s blessing to pursue a future with the Rebels. Jefferson could be an early-impact player as one of the jewels of Ole Miss’ 2015 class.

“I always wanted to go down there but my dad had reservations about it,” Jefferson told 247Sports. “Heโ€™s on board with it now. He told me he wants whatโ€™s best for me. I picked it so itโ€™s time to get rolling.โ€

Jefferson said next week’s scheduled visit to Florida is likely over.
