10 biggest stories you missed from Week 7
Now that Week 7 is officially in the books, let’s look at the 10 biggest stories you may have missed during the weekend:
1. LSU is the only undefeated SEC team following its 35-28 win against Florida in Baton Rouge. Tigers coach Les Miles called a fake field goal that sealed the game.
2. LSU’s live tiger mascot, Mike VI, won’t return to Death Valley this season. The tiger has been reluctant to enter his mobile carrier that takes him to the stadium, but the school will reevaluate the situation next year.
3. After resigning as South Carolina’s coach, Steve Spurrier joined the College GameDay crew in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
4. It was reported that Spurrier will be compensated $920,000 for the rest of the season by the South Carolina athletic department, which lost a lot of revenue after moving its home game to LSU last week.
5. Ole Miss couldn’t handle Memphis, falling 37-24 to the Tigers in the Liberty Bowl.
6. Auburn outlasted Kentucky in Lexington on Thursday night. The Tigers played a complete game that could propel them to better things in 2015.
7. After the game, Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp apologized to Kentucky receiver Garrett Johnson. The sophomore from Florida, who wasn’t offered by Muschamp when he coached the Gators, burned Auburn for 160 yards.
8. Alabama’s defense came up big against the Aggies, winning the game while ruining Texas A&M’s undefeated season.
9. Bad performances by Missouri’s offense and special teams put the SEC East out of reach for Missouri in its loss at Georgia.
10. Kirk Herbstreit put two SEC teams in his latest College Football Playoff prediction.
