7 SEC teams crack top 25 of ESPN's updated FPI rankings
By now, we know which teams in the country are elite, and which don’t have what it takes to challenge for a College Football Playoff spot.
Following Week 5 of the season, ESPN updated its FPI rankings, and seven SEC teams cracked the top 25.
As you can see below, Alabama led the way at No. 1 (no surprise there), followed by six other teams from the conference:
- No. 1 — Alabama
- No. 3 — Georgia
- No. 11 — LSU
- No. 12 — Auburn
- No. 13 — Florida
- No. 18 — Mississippi State
- No. 19 — Texas A&M
That’s right — 3-2 teams like Mississippi State and Texas A&M are in the top 25, but 5-0 Kentucky is nowhere to be seen.
The Wildcats even have a win over MSU on their resume, and still can’t get any love from the ESPN rankings.
