Arizona State has a coaching vacancy to fill. The school parted with Herm Edwards on Sunday after the Sun Devils fell to 1-2 in 2022 with a 30-21 home loss to Eastern Michigan.

ASU is the second Power 5 opening in just Week 3 of the 2022 season, following Nebraska’s firing of Scott Frost in Week 2. Who will Arizona State hire as its next head coach? ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel shared a list of potential candidates for the job on Sunday evening, including some names familiar to SEC fans.

Embattled Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin leads Thamel’s list. A pair of SEC offensive coordinators, Todd Monken (Georgia) and Bill O’Brien (Alabama), are also included on Thamel’s list. Charles Huff, a former Alabama assistant now the head coach at Marshall, is listed along with Derek Mason, the former Vanderbilt head coach and Auburn defensive coordinator now at Oklahoma State.

Edwards’ ASU tenure began in 2018. The Sun Devils went 26-20 in 4-plus seasons under Edwards.
