The Capital One Guy has been used in a recent ad campaign for the company, and he was involved in a humorous exchange with the Orange Bowl referee at the coin toss.
Thursday’s matchup between Penn State and Notre Dame is for a shot to reach the national championship game, and the pre-game buildup included the traditional fanfare for the Orange Bowl. It included representatives for the bowl game and Capital One, including none other than the “Capital One Bank Guy.”
Of course, the actor has a name, and it is Jeremy Brandt. But old habits die hard, and the Orange Bowl referee went with the Capital One moniker instead of the actor’s given name.
“Capital One Guy, thanks for being here as well,” said the referee while welcoming in all the traditional honorees.
It was good for a laugh from the contingent, and why not? Either way, it was a fun exchange and one that was offered up much to the delight of fans on social media.

Unfortunately, fans did not get a chance to find out who Capital One Guy is rooting for in this year’s game. The action is off and running with Penn State and Notre Dame both looking to keep their shot at a national title alive.
