Dabo Swinney makes ill-advised suicide joke after question following loss to Miami
Dabo Swinney made an ill-advised joke about suicide in his postgame press conference after Clemson’s double-overtime loss to Miami on Saturday night.
Here’s a transcript of the exchange between Swinney and a beat reporter at the presser:
Reporter: Some coaches have employed sports psychiatrists, have you ever done that?
Swinney: Oh, we’ve got ’em, we got ’em. He’s probably, he’s probably on suicide watch right now. Yeah, yeah, we got ’em.
Here’s video of Swinney’s remark:
The comment comes after Clemson’s third loss of the 2023 season. The Tigers dropped games earlier this season to Duke and Florida State.
Clemson turned it over three times vs. the Hurricanes and had another red zone fumble near the goal line. Coughing the ball up in the red zone also cost the Tigers the game vs. Duke back in Week 1.
Clemson is just 7-6 in its last 13 games under coach Swinney. The Tigers are in jeopardy of failing to win at least 10 games for the first time since the 2010 season.
