Last week was a very interesting one for Clemson’s football program.

Coach Dabo Swinney decided to make a QB change, replaying Kelly Bryant with true freshman Trevor Lawrence and just days later, Bryant announced he was planning to transfer. On Saturday during Lawrence’s first career start, he was injured after taking a huge hit to his head/neck region, and would not return to action.

Thankfully for Tigers fans, Clemson’s only remaining scholarship QB, Chase Brice, was able to pull out the 27-23, come-from-behind victory to keep them perfect on the season.

On Sunday, Swinney sat down to update the media on Lawrence’s status for next week, when Clemson travels to Wake Forest to take on the Demon Deacons.

“He (Lawrence) actually was really good, he was trying to come back in the game yesterday but anytime you get anything with the head and neck area, there’s just no room for error there,” said Swinney. “So they shut him down and he actually was really good after the game and he was very good this morning, felt great. I think they were very encouraged by what they saw. He’s going to work out and they’ll continue to evaluate him and hopefully will see. But will go with what we got. Based on what they said I would expect that, but that’s all up to those guys.”

It sounds like Lawrence should be good to go for Saturday’s game, but Clemson has learned this week that they are just one bad hit away from their season being in total jeopardy.
