Dan Mullen to take part in SEC Network’s SEC Championship Game coverage

Georgia and Alabama fans will hear from a familiar foe ahead of this Saturday’s SEC Championship Game. Former Florida coach Dan Mullen will appear on Saturday’s “SEC Nation,” joining Tim Tebow, Paul Finebaum, Marty Smith, Ryan McGee, Benjamin Watson, Laura Rutledge and other SEC Network analysts.
ESPN made the announcement in a recent press release:
SEC Nation Presented by Dr Pepper provides all the pre-game analysis, stories and highlights Georgia and Alabama fans need to get ready for kickoff, featuring Rutledge navigating the game-day discussions with Roman Harper, Jordan Rodgers, Tebow, Finebaum, Smith, McGee and Watson, along with former Florida and Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen. The two-hour show will begin at Dr Pepper SEC FanFare at the GWCC at 2 p.m. and shift to the concourse set at MBS at 3 p.m. for the final hour.
While it feels somewhat awkward for a fired SEC head coach to appear on the SEC Network less than a month after being let go, Mullen makes sense as a guest analyst to discuss the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide. Mullen’s 2020 Florida team is the last to beat Georgia, handing UGA a 44-28 loss on Nov. 7, 2020. The Dawgs got revenge on Oct. 30 with a 34-7 beatdown. Under Mullen, the Gators lost narrowly to Alabama in the 2020 SEC Championship Game (52-46) and the 2021 regular season (31-29).
We’ll see what Mullen has to say Saturday.
