Tommy Tuberville is making a comeback to college football. The former Auburn and Ole Miss coach won’t be on the sidelines coaching this fall but will instead be joining the booth for ESPN’s coverage of the sport.

ESPN announced the news Wednesday. Tuberville’s official duties for the network will be to call games and to serve as an analyst.

Upon announcing the news, ESPN’s Lee Fitting released the following statement.

“Tommy has been a staple in college football for many years, having experienced nearly every situation as a head coach,” said Fitting, ESPN’s senior coordinating producer. “We want him to bring that experience to our telecast, informing fans on the dynamics of a head coach’s thought process, not only in a given moment but leading up to and following that moment.”

Tuberville coached at Ole Miss from 1995-1998 before taking over the Auburn program for a decade from 1999-2008. He won 85 games as Auburn’s head coach, including a 13-0 season in 2004 and is one of the few coaches in the country that has experienced a win over a Nick Saban-coached Alabama team.
