ESPN’s Heather Dinich is one of the more knowledgeable college analysts when it comes to knowing what and how the College Football Playoff committee is thinking.
On Tuesday night, the CFP committee will be announcing the first CFP rankings under the new 12-team Playoff format. While Oregon figures to be the No. 1 team in the country based on the fact they are undefeated, the conversation will start with what 1-loss team is going to be the highest-ranked team.
During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, Dinich made her prediction on what team she thinks will be the top-ranked 1-loss team.

“I have Ohio State, but the committee is going take a look at Ohio State and Georgia’s win and their loss,” Dinich said. “When you look at Ohio State going on the road and losing by 1 point to Oregon. You look at this win against Penn State which I think the committee will still have as a top 7 team; we’ll see how that shakes out. Georgia’s only loss is to Alabama. Do they think Georgia’s win at Texas is better than Ohio State’s win at Penn State? That is a lot of what that conversation will come down to.”
Both teams are in action this weekend, as the Buckeyes host Purdue while Georgia is on the road at No. 16 Ole Miss.
The CFP rankings will be announced at 7 p.m. ET and it will be aired on ESPN.
