How the FBI may have cleared a path for Bobby Petrino to return to the SEC
The unfolding basketball scandal at Louisville has spilled over to the football program in the form of contract terms for coach Bobby Petrino.
Petrino, who has a current buyout of $8.5 million, could see that number drop to $4.25 million if his boss, Athletics Director Tom Jurich is out of a job. On Wednesday, Greg Postel, the interim president at the University of Louisville, said Jurich would be placed on paid administrative leave following Tuesday’s announcement, though multiple reports have said that Jurich has been fired.
Interesting note just pointed out to me. If Tom Jurich gets fired, Bobby Petrino's buyout goes down to $4.25 million this year. pic.twitter.com/Hsh8rPdOZ1

In his second stint at Louisville, Petrino is 29-14, including 3-1 this season with the loss to defending national champion Clemson. Petrino was at Louisville from 2003-06 before he left for the Atlanta Falcons, and then left prematurely for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Petrino was fired by Arkansas after school administrators said he hired a mistress and intentionally mislead his boss about their relationship and a motorcycle accident.
On ESPN, Paul Finebaum states it's very likely Bobby Petrino will look to get out of UL quickly with the collateral damage coming.
