Filthy rich: How much money every 2020 SEC first-round draft pick will make
The SEC set an NFL Draft record with 15 first-round picks Thursday night. In fact, the conference set records for the most top 10 picks (6) and the most top 20 picks (10). The conference also became the first to have to quarterbacks drafted in the top 5 picks.
LSU had bookend picks with quarterback Joe Burrow going No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire going No. 32 to the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs.
With becoming first-round picks, these guys certainly are wealthy young men now. Burrow’s No. 1 overall slot grossed him a $23.8 million signing bonus and a total contract value of $36.1 million.
There are truly some great stories in this year’s draft; however, South Carolina’s Javon Kinlaw likely has the best. Kinlaw was homeless at times during his youth, and now, he’s in the exact opposite situation. Kinlaw was drafted No. 14 overall to the San Francisco 49ers, and he has a $8.8 million signing bonus and a total contract value worth $15.4 million.
Below is a look at the projected total contract value and signing bonus of every former SEC player in the draft, according to Spotrac.com:
