Nobody has been more vocal in opposition to UCF’s national champions claim than Paul Finebaum.

The SEC Network host has outlined numerous times why he doesn’t feel the Knights have any right to be called “national champions.” Many times when Finebaum speaks out against the Knights, it’s because he has Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi on his show.

But finally, Bianchi might’ve worn Finebaum down.

According to Bianchi, earlier in the week during an appearance on Finebaum, the subject of the Knights getting credit for being national champs came up. Finebaum apparently admitted that he’ll support the UCF-title claims if something happens in 2018 — the Knights run it back.

That’s right. All UCF has to do in order to get Finebaum’s endorsement as national champs is, well, do it again.

Here was what Bianchi wrote in his column about the encounter with Finebaum:

Finebaum said that if the Knights somehow, someway run the table again and finish unbeaten under new coach Josh Heupel, then he will actually jump wholeheartedly onto the UCF national-championship bandwagon.

“I will make a vow that I will come down to whatever celebration you have,” Finebaum said. “I’ll buy the t-shirts, I’ll buy the Mike Bianchi ‘Season of Glory’ book and I’m all in.”

Ironically enough, UCF’s quest to repeat its undefeated season lies in the hands of former Mizzou offensive coordinator Josh Heupel.

Clearly, though, Finebaum is betting on UCF not running the table again. The Knights could be a preseason top-25 team, which they weren’t last year.

But the odds of an unbeaten season in the post-Scott Frost era don’t seem too likely, and therefore, neither are the odds of Finebaum jumping on the UCF bandwagon anytime soon.
