Former SEC quarterback TJ Finley is on the move again. Most recently taking the field for Western Kentucky, he will now look for his fifth change of scenery in his college career.
Finley began his career at LSU and had stops at Auburn and Texas State before joining WKU. Finley took to social media to express his gratitude toward the program and share his optimism for the future in whatever it may hold.
“After careful consideration and due to a season-ending ankle injury, I have decided to pursue a medical redshirt and will be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining.”

Finley was once thought to be the potential next great LSU or Auburn quarterback toward the beginning of his career with some of the flashes he showed, but injury and other factors ultimately caused him to have to look in a different direction.
Last month, WKU head coach Tyson Helton said in a press conference that Finley was playing a backup role, but still had praise for the quarterback.
“I’ve been very impressed with TJ though in the role that he’s playing, (we) always talk about master your role… even on the sidelines during the game, I’m watching him talk to Caden (Veltkamp) and telling Caden what he sees from the sideline, so that’s extremely beneficial.”
It will be interesting to see where Finley lands next as his winding journey continues.
