Greg Sankey and the SEC are not looking to take part in more conference realignment additions. At least, that’s what the SEC Commissioner told Paul Finebaum Tuesday evening.

When asked about the latest wave of conference realignment, the same wave that has seen 5 Pac-12 schools follow USC and UCLA out of the conference in the past week, Sankey insisted that the SEC is in “an enormously healthy place” and is “not in the middle of the current movement efforts.”

The SEC is set to be 16 strong entering the 2024-25 football season. The 14 current SEC programs will of course be joined by Texas and Oklahoma.

But several more rumors have gone around that with the Big 12 and B1G expanding heavily in recent weeks the SEC will also look to expand even further. Florida State, for example, recently voiced its displeasure with the ACC which has some speculating the Seminoles and others may soon be SEC bound.

The reality is a lot more complicated than that, but come on: Eugene, Oregon is now (will soon be) a B1G town. It’s hard to imagine being surprised by anything at this point.

Stay tuned.
