The Vols have looked lost and overpowered many times this season. The offense has scored more than 20 points just twice this season and struggled through a 41-0 home shutout at the hand of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Adam McClintock of the CFB Matrix has been handing out mid-season grades to head coaches, and it will come as no surprise that Jones did not fare well. McClintock has Jones as the 93rd ranked coach in the nation with an F grade for his performance:

Fans of LSU will likely not be surprised to find that head coach Ed Orgeron is rated very similarly to Jones. The Tigers have looked good at times, but inconsistency and a home loss to Troy has put Orgeron in a precarious position.

Orgeron’s decision making has been questionable at times, and the overall performance of the Tigers led to a 92nd ranking and F grade from McClintock:

The top-rated coach in McClintock’s mid-season system actually comes from outside of the SEC, but it is a name that has been floated around SEC circles as a potential candidate should certain jobs open up.

Washington State is off to a 6-0 start, including an upset win over USC, and head coach Mike Leach received the best grade for his team’s first-half performance:
