Week 1 of the college football season already saw some Heisman contender casualties. One early season loss can wreak have on a resume, as Jayden Daniels found out.

And Week 2 only further separated the contenders from the pretenders.

Here is a look at the current Heisman odds and how the top 10 contenders performed in Week 2…

1) Caleb Williams, USC Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 19/21 for 281 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 1 rush, 21 yards, 1 touchdown

Overall stats: 56/72 for 890 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 12 rushes, 61 yards, 1 touchdown

One big number: Already off to an accurate start, Williams tied a career high with a 19-of-22 night.

2) Michael Penix Jr., Washington Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 28/38 passing for 409 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interceptions, 2 rushes, 11 yards

Overall stats: 57/78 passing for 859 yards, 8 touchdowns, 1 interceptions, 2 rushes, 11 yards

One big number: Penix has accomplished many things, but Saturday marked his first time topping 400 yards in back-to-back games.

Week 3 opponent: at Michigan State

3) Jordan Travis, Florida State Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 15/29 passing for 175 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interceptions, 6 rushes, 20 yards

Overall stats: 38/60 passing for 517 yards, 6 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 13 rushes, 58 yards, 1 touchdown

One big number: Coming off a thrilling performance in the season opener against LSU, Travis surprisingly came back down to earth against Southern Miss, connecting on fewer than 52% passing.

Week 3 opponent: at Boston College

4) Quinn Ewers, Texas Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 24/38 passing for 349 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 3 rushes, 11 yards

Overall stats: 43/68 passing for 609 yards, 6 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 11 rushes, 23 yards, 1 touchdown

One big number: Ewers and the Longhorns dealt Alabama its biggest home loss (34-24) since 2007.

Week 3 opponent: vs. Wyoming

5) J.J. McCarthy, Michigan Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 22/25 passing for 278 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 3 rushes, 38 yards

Overall stats: 48/55 passing for 558 yards, 5 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 7 rushes, 74 yards

One big number: McCarthy’s 88.0 completion percentage was his highest since going 11-for-12 with 3 touchdowns in Week 2 against Hawai’i last year.

6) Sam Hartman, Notre Dame Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 15/24 passing for 286 yards, 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 5 rushes, negative-27

Overall stats: 48/64 passing for 631 yards, 10 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 9 rushes, negative-13 yards, 1 rushing touchdown

One big number: Hartman already has 2 4-touchdown games; he had 2 in all of 2021 and 5 last year.

7) Bo Nix, Oregon Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 32/44 passing for 359 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 9 rushes, 46 yards

Overall stats: 55/61 passing for 636 yards, 5 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 9 rushes, 46 yards

One big number: Oregon trailed for much of the 2nd half before scoring 10 points in the final 70 seconds in a 38-30 win at Texas Tech.

8) Drew Allar, Penn State Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 22/26 passing for 204 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions, 5 rushes, 27 yards, 1 touchdown

Overall stats: 43/55 passing for 529 yards, 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 14 rushes, 55 yards, 2 touchdowns

One big number: Allar’s completion percentage was again phenomenal at 84.6%, but his yards per attempt dropped drastically from 11.2 to 7.8 in one week.

9) Carson Beck, Georgia Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 23/30 for 283 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, 5 rushes, 17 yards

Overall stats: 44/61 for 577 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception, 8 rushes, 29 yards, 1 rushing touchdown

One big number: Beck has topped the 66.7 completion percentage in both his first 2 starts.

10) Shedeur Sanders, Colorado Quarterback

Week 2 stats: 31/42 for 393 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 11 rushes, negative-30 yards, 1 rushing touchdown

Overall stats: 69/89 for 903 passing yards, 6 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 16 rushes, negative-62 yards, 1 touchdown,

One big number: He didn’t quite torch the scoreboard like he did against TCU, but Sanders ranks among national leaders with over 450 passing yards per game.
