Jon Gruden’s reported resignation as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders is now official. The team will reportedly name an assistant with SEC ties as the interim head coach.

ESPN’s Suzy Kolber is reporting that Rich Bisaccia will be the Raiders’ interim head coach.

Bisaccia has been in coaching since 1983, getting his start as Wayne State’s defensive backs and special teams coach. Bisaccia was on staff at South Carolina from 1988-93. The Wikipedia page for Bisaccia makes note that “the Gamecocks led the SEC in kickoff returns in 1992 and set a school record for blocked kicks” when he was the team’s special teams coach. Bisaccia was an Ole Miss assistant from 1999-2001.

Bisaccia was briefly part of Gus Malzahn’s Auburn staff in January 2013. After a month on The Plains, Bisaccia was released from his Auburn contract to sign with the Dallas Cowboys as the team’s assistant head coach and special teams coordinator.

Bisaccia has been on the Raiders staff since 2018.
