Conference play in SEC basketball is set to begin on Dec. 29. One of the three games scheduled for that night, however, has been postponed by the SEC.

The conference announced Wednesday that the Kentucky-South Carolina has been postponed due to COVID cases within the Gamecocks program:

The South Carolina at Kentucky men’s basketball game of December 29 has been postponed due to a combination of positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the South Carolina basketball program, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 management requirements.

Since a season-opening win over Morehead State, Kentucky has dropped its last five games. John Calipari’s squad is looking to right the ship against in-state rival Louisville on Saturday.

South Carolina is looking at nearly a month without a game. Frank Martin’s Gamecocks last played on Dec. 5, a 77-67 loss to Houston.  As of right now, the next game on USC’s schedule is Jan. 2 against Florida A&M.

As for the SEC Dec. 29 slate, Texas A&M-LSU and Ole Miss-Alabama are scheduled as an SEC Network Tuesday night doubleheader.
