Kirk Herbstreit sees the SEC extending its current streak of national championships. Herbstreit, however, does not like Georgia to 3-peat.
Herbstreit is going with Alabama as his pick to win the final 4-team College Football Playoff. The ESPN analyst shared his Playoff picks during Saturday’s “College GameDay.”
Herbstreit has Alabama playing Michigan in the CFP semifinals. In the other semifinal, Herbstreit predicts a rematch of last year’s Georgia-Ohio State thriller. This time, however, Herbstreit has the Buckeyes coming out on top.
Alabama played Ohio State for the 2020 national championship in Miami, winning 52-24. Herbstreit likes the Crimson Tide to beat the Buckeyes again in January, which would make it 8 national championships for Nick Saban, including 7 in his UA tenure.

Georgia is the 2-time defending national champion. After a 15-0 season in 2022, the Bulldogs are No. 1 in the AP Top 25 as the 2023 season kicks off.
Kirby Smart’s squad opens the season on Sept. 2 at home against UT Martin. UGA’s 2023 schedule includes Ole Miss as its rotating SEC West opponent.
Coming off an 11-2 season in 2022, Alabama is ranked No. 4 in the AP Top 25 entering the 2023 season. Saban has yet to name his team’s starting quarterback.
Alabama opens the season on Sept. 2 against Middle Tennessee. The Crimson Tide’s non-conference schedule is highlighted by the showdown with No. 11 Texas in Week 2.
UA’s 8-game conference schedule includes Kentucky as this year’s rotating cross-division contest. Herbstreit picked UK as his dark horse team in the SEC.
