College football has already played 3 weeks, but the SEC and Big Ten have yet to kick off. The Southeastern Conference will kickoff Saturday, September 26, while the Big Ten will be October 24.

Sunday’s AP Top 25 rankings won’t include the Big Ten; however, ESPN’s Football Power Index has already inserted them back into the rankings this week.

Oddly, Clemson stands 2-0, and yet the index dropped the Tigers below Ohio State (1) and Alabama (2). Did the scoreless second half against The Citadel have something to do with it?

With respect to the SEC, the index ranks 7 SEC teams in the top 25, including 3 of the top 7. Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Auburn all rank in the top 10, while Florida sits at No. 11. Texas A&M checks in at No. 14, and Kentucky rounds out the top 25 for the conference at No. 24.
