Though we won’t know for sure yet, there will likely be a few SEC running backs in the 2018 NFL Draft.

We do know for sure that senior Georgia RBs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will turn pro, but guys like Auburn’s Kerryon Johnson and LSU’s Derrius Guice will have some big decisions to make.

As they weigh those decisions and prepare for bowl games, NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah weighed in on how the top backs from around the country stack up against current NFL runners. Here’s what he had to say about Guice, Johnson and Chubb:

  • Derrius Guice, LSU: Guice is a fun player to study on tape. He reminds me of a young Frank Gore. He has a nice mix of quickness, elusiveness and strength.
  • Kerryon Johnson, Auburn: Johnson has battled injuries this fall, but when healthy, he looks just like Le’Veon Bell. I love his patience, vision and balance.
  • Nick Chubb, Georgia: Chubb isn’t a burner, but his contact power and balance is outstanding. Defenders bounce off of him repeatedly in the games I studied. He reminds me of Jonathan Stewart, although Chubb doesn’t have quite the same top speed that Stewart possesses.

Jeremiah also discusses what he’s seen from Georgia RB Sony Michel and Alabama RB Damien Harris, but doesn’t provide any NFL comparisons for them.

Whether any backs besides Chubb and Michel declare for the draft remains to be seen, but it’s likely they’ll give it some serious consideration in the coming weeks.
