College football fans around the country get excited about the idea of Joe Brady potentially calling plays for their team next season. Brady was recently dismissed as the Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator, but a return to college appears unlikely for the former LSU assistant.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports, per sources, that Brady has heard from multiple NFL teams and would prefer to stay in the pros. Brady hasn’t completely shut the door on returning to college, but don’t expect to see him calling plays on Saturdays next fall:

Brady could return to coaching in college, where his career took off as the passing game coordinator at LSU during the Tigers’ 2019 national championship season.

But one source told ESPN that although it’s “not impossible, it is improbable” that Brady heads back to the college ranks in 2022.

Brady, 32, has been in coaching since 2013. He won the Broyles Award in 2019.
