Oklahoma coaching search: Current SEC head coach reportedly a 'prime candidate' for Sooners
Shane Beamer just finished up his 1st regular season as the coach at South Carolina and his 1st season as a college head coach.
The 44-year-old led the Gamecocks to a 6-6 record, after being hired from his assistant’s job at Oklahoma.
With Lincoln Riley having accepted the head coaching position at USC, the Sooners are in need of a coach.
On Monday, 247Sports reported that Beamer is a “prime candidate” for the job.

Beamer spent the 2018-2020 seasons at Oklahoma as an associate head coach and tight ends coach, and he also had stints at Virginia Tech, Georgia, Mississippi State and South Carolina as an assistant.
His father is Frank Beamer, who won 280 career games as the head coach at Murray State and Virginia Tech.
