One of the most outspoken critics of the ever-evolving alliance between the Pac-12, ACC, and Big Ten has been ESPN commentator and radio host Paul Finebaum.

On Wednesday, Finebaum appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up” and one again voiced his displeasure with the alliance and what it means for the direction of college football.

“I think college football is in a state of disaster right now,” Finebaum said.

He went on to add that the problem is the leagues’ refusal to work together, and he specifically cited how the Big Ten and Pac-12 handled the start of the 2020 season as it related to COVID issues.

“The one thing that we heard last year, remember, the build up toward the season … we wanted to see a collaborative effort and we didn’t see it,” Finebaum said. “We saw the Big Ten and the Pac-12 break off. They did not play the first 8 weeks of the season.”

In terms of how to fix the sad state of current affairs as he sees it,” Finebaum said allegiances aren’t the answer and that everyone needs to get on the same page.

“College football is a mess and it needs to come together,” he added. “And it’s no closer today than it’s been in a long time”
