Quinn Ewers, the No. 1 overall prospect originally in the 2022 cycle, graduated high school early, reclassified to the 2021 class, and enrolled at Ohio State this past fall. The 5-star quarterback arrived well into fall camp and spent the season redshirting.

After having spent less than 4 months in Columbus, Ewers put his name in the transfer portal last week. According to Anwar Richardson, Rivals’ Texas beat writer, Ewers is soon to decide on his next stop. The expectation is that he will be going home.

Ewers, according to Richardson, is deciding between Texas and Texas Tech. He has already visited Lubbock. The 6-foot-3 quarterback is from Southlake, Texas, where he attended high school at Southlake Carroll. He originally committed to Texas in August of 2020 but left the class 2 months later.

The Longhorns’ current head coach, Steve Sarkisian, recruited Ewers hard while he was serving as Alabama’s offensive coordinator. According to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer, Texas is said to be the favorite to land Ewers.
