ESPN’s Booger McFarland is known to speak his mind.

These days, one can find McFarland on a number of avenues via ESPN. Most notably, McFarland has been an analyst for the SEC Network since 2014, but McFarland is moving to ABC, ESPN announced in a release Tuesday. He’ll serve as a studio analyst on Saturdays alongside Mack Brown and new anchor Kevin Negandhi.

“Very excited,” McFarland told The Advocate. “I’ve enjoyed the last three years getting to talk about the schools in the SEC. This is the next step, expanding and being able to discuss more teams around the country. It’s still going to be the same me in the studio: honest and informative and entertain people.”

McFarland is known for his playing days at LSU (1995-98) and his nine-year NFL career, which included a Super Bowl ring with the Buccaneers. But he’s also known for his big voice and strong opinions on SEC football.

While other analysts can also be found in several different places on ESPN, it always seemed like McFarland wanted to outwork everyone and make himself available on national shows, too. This new ABC promotion is a national audience, and he’ll do very well.

If viewers didn’t agree with his opinion, they usually respected it, because he knows the game as well as anyone.
