Fans hoping to see the Mad Hatter in the broadcast booth this fall may be disappointed.

Miles had previously announced that he intended to move to the broadcasting booth for the 2017 season. However, he appears to indicate in the 12th annual Gridiron Kickoff event at Landmark Christian Church on Monday that at least one network did not work out.

Kamarri Darrington of the Montgomery Advertiser reports that Miles “went for a tryout to be an analyst for FOX Sports, but didn’t want to be conformed:”

“It’s a struggle when you haven’t had a censor button on the sidelines. You quickly find out I gave it the old college try, but it’s not going to happen.”

Darrington also mentions that Miles remains interested in coaching again, but there are no immediate plans or offers to do so.

It remains unclear whether or not Miles is still interested in broadcasting with a different network, or if he is ending his broadcasting attempt entirely. The opportunity to try a broadcast or analyst position will likely always be open for someone with a track record like Miles’. Fans will just have to wait and see for the Mad Hatter’s next move.
