Rivalry Week Fight: Former Georgia WR gets ejected for punching former Florida DB
Florida and Georgia are set to renew their long-time rivalry on Saturday, but a former Bulldog and former Gator got involved in the professional ranks on Sunday.
During the Chicago Bears-New Orleans Saints game, ex-Georgia WR Javon Wims got involved with former Florida defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Well after the referee’s whistle to end the play, Wims went over to Gardner-Johnson, yanked the defender’s chain off his neck and fired two punches at his helmet with his right hand. Afterwards, a scuffle broke out between the 2 teams.
Wims’ actions apparently stemmed from an earlier incident, where Gardner-Johnson poked his left finger into the facemask of Chicago wide receiver Anthony Miller.
As a result, Wims was disqualified from the remainder of the contest, and will likely face further discipline from the league this week.
You can view video of both incidents below:
Here’s the sequence…
Looks like Ceedy Duce got a face-poke in on Anthony Miller.
Later on, Javon Wims comes over and essentially suckerpunches Ceedy Duce. He’s ejected.
Troy Aikman: “Uh, that’s just not smart football.”
