RJ Young had a wild scenario for the College Football Playoff on Wednesday’s edition of The Number One College Football Show.
Young shared a scenario where the top 4 would be Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, and Georgia. He argues that the Texas win over Alabama is good, but not as good as a potential Alabama win in the SEC title game.
If the Ohio State-Michigan game is close and the winner blows out Iowa in the Big Ten title game, the Big Ten programs could be seen as 2 of the better teams in the country.
“Let’s assume that Texas’ win over Alabama on the road in September is impressive, but not as impressive as Alabama beating Georgia in the SEC Championship game,” said Young. “That might bode well for Texas getting in as a 1-loss team. If Ohio State-Michigan is tight, I think the winner blows out Iowa in the Big Ten title game. You could see Ohio State and Michigan being 2 of the 4 best teams in the country for a second year in a row.”
“I think with that sort of scenario…you end up with Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, and Georgia as your college football playoff teams.”@RJ_Young cooks up a CFP scenario where the Big Ten and SEC take all four spots ? pic.twitter.com/abGCGLRMhv

There are still some more things that would need to happen for this to work.
Washington would have to lose to either Washington State or in the Pac-12 title game. Texas would need to lose in the Big 12 Championship, followed by a Florida State loss in the next couple of weeks.
“I would have a hard time with this. Alabama beating Georgia, Washington losing to Wazzu or in the Pac-12 title game, Texas losing in the Big 12 title game, or Florida State to either Florida or Louisville,” said Young. “With that sort of scenario, you end up with Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, and Georgia as your College Football Playoff teams.”
Weirder things have happened in college football. We’ll all have to wait and see how things play out.
