Not all postseason games are created equal, but there is something to be said about winning the last game of the season (when it’s a bowl game).

Bowl wins set a positive tone for the next season, one that resonates through spring practice, summer conditioning and weight room work.

Conference championship wins lead to better bowl games, and in some recent cases, a berth in the playoffs. Alabama’s Nick Saban added three postseason wins to his ledger last year with wins in the SEC title game and playoff wins over Michigan State and Clemson.

Postseason games also put trophies in the school’s cabinet, and money in a coach’s pocket in the form of contract bonuses and extensions. As you might expect, the SEC is filled with coaches that know how to reach — and win — those games.

But, with Mark Richt, Gary Pinkel and Steve Spurrier moving on, the league’s coaching fraternity isn’t quite as experienced as it was last season.

Four coaches, Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Vanderbilt’s Derek Mason, Kentucky’s Mark Stoops and Missouri’s Barry Odom have never coached in a postseason game.

Only six of the league’s 14 coaches can boast a winning record in postseason games. However, two more have winning marks in those games with their current schools, and no SEC coach has a losing record in the postseason.

Here’s the list of how each coach in the conference has fared in postseason play:
