The SEC earned 8 spots in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update, which was published on Tuesday morning.

The SEC is tied with the Big 12 for the most spots in Lunardi’s 68-team projection. A 9th team, Florida, was the last team left out of this bracketology update.

The league doesn’t have any No. 1 seeds, per Lunardi, but it does have a pair of projected No. 2 seeds and a No. 3 seed. Tennessee is currently projected as the SEC’s automatic qualifier.

Here’s a breakdown of where all 8 SEC teams are currently seeded:

  • Tennessee, No. 2 seed
  • Kentucky, No. 2 seed
  • Auburn, No. 3 seed
  • Alabama, No. 6 seed
  • Ole Miss, No. 8 seed
  • Texas A&M, No. 8 seed
  • South Carolina, No. 9 seed
  • Mississippi State, No. 11 seed

Tennessee is off to a strong start this season. The Vols are 11-3 and have won 7 consecutive games. They will be in action again on Wednesday against Mississippi State, who is currently projected to make the Big Dance for the 2nd straight year.

Kentucky moved to 12-2 on the season and 2-0 in SEC play with a comfortable win over Missouri on Tuesday night. The Wildcats have won 6 straight contests.

The SEC received 8 bids to last season’s NCAA Tournament.
