Peter Burns listed his ‘SEC QB Power Rankings’ Wednesday and the fans in Fayetteville have to be happy with his list, as the Razorbacks came out on top. The SEC Network anchor must think very highly of Austin Allen — although offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Dan Enos deserves kudos for much of the offensive production coming out of Arkansas the last two years.

It’s not completely clear whether this list is for total team depth at the position but it’s certainly suggested by the fact teams are listed out and not individual players. Teams notably absent from the list include Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Kentucky — all of which have promising young quarterbacks on their rosters.

When you take this list into consideration, the lack of quality backup depth at the quarterback position in the SEC is really staggering. Arkansas doesn’t have a backup with much on-the-fiend experience at all. Alabama’s backups are both true freshmen, as is Georgia and Mississippi State’s backups. South Carolina’s backup for Jake Bentley, Michael Scarnecchia, has appeared in one game in his entire four-year career in Columbia.

What are your thoughts on the list?
