It’s never too early to be looking ahead to 2018, right?

Sporting News recently dropped its preseason top 25 ahead of spring football, and six SEC teams are included. The Crimson Tide are ranked No. 1 to start the season. Something tells us, though, that Alabama and Clemson may have another head-to-head clash in the College Football Playoff. The talent returning at Clemson doesn’t happen often.

Georgia and Auburn were also ranked in the top 10. LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M rounded out the top 25. If there’s one team I’m selling right now it’s LSU. I’m having a hard time buying what Ed Orgeron is selling in Baton Rouge. I think he’s a solid coach with a solid coaching staff (a great assistant in DC Dave Aranda), but the program just appears to be somewhat stagnant. Ranked at No. 13, LSU may already be at its ceiling.

The most notable team left out from the SEC is Mississippi State, as the Bulldogs should have a big year under new head coach Joe Moorhead.
