Tim Tebow saw first-hand how dominant Alabama’s defense can be, as he attended Monday night’s Sugar Bowl.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs will play for the national championship Monday night, creating the first all-SEC title game in the College Football Playoff era. Naturally, the haters aren’t too happy.

On Tuesday morning, Tebow joined ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman, and Tebow was asked whether an all-SEC championship was good for college football.

“I don’t know if it’s the best for ratings,” Tebow said. “I know a lot of people in the South will be watching. I don’t know about the West Coast.

“I think it’s good for college football. I want to see the best teams play. I don’t care if they’re from the SEC. I don’t care if they’re from the Pac-12. I want to see the best teams. Guess what? You have the two best teams playing for it all.”

Obviously, with two teams from the same conference advancing to the championship, the cry for Playoff expansion is already starting. Remember, the 2012 BCS National Championship Game rematch between Alabama and LSU got the wheels moving for an actual four-team Playoff.

Tebow, however, doesn’t think the Playoff should expand.

“I don’t think there should be eight,” he said on ESPN. “One thing that separates college football from the NFL is that every week matters and every week is special.”

We couldn’t agree more.
