Wednesday night’s MACtion provided one of the most-blatant targeting penalties ever

Toledo will be without DE Terrance Taylor for the first half next week.
Why? Well, during Wednesday night’s MACtion against Northern Illinois, he committed one of the most egregious targeting penalties we’ve ever seen in college football.
As you can see below, QB Ross Bowers was on his knees when Taylor came flying in from behind. This was an easy call for the referees:

As the announcers say, Taylor launched in to Bowers, hit him in the head and also used the crown of his helmet — three of the biggest factors in the targeting penalty.
We’ll see if the MAC office decides to issue any further penalty to Taylor after that hit.
