The anonymity of Twitter sometimes causes people to say things they would never say with their name attached to it.

Hopefully, a stupid prank is all that one tweet sent Wednesday night was, as the content of the tweet was no laughing matter.

According to PennLive.com, a tweet sent on Thursday night threatened a mass shooting at Penn State’s Beaver Stadium during a home game this year:

The threat, which was originally posted by the account @DanielTheDuck8 at 10:52 p.m. Thursday, stated:

“I have decided that I’m going to commit the biggest mass shooting in history of the world, killing thousands of fans in beaver stadium during one of the games next year.”

Penn State police are investigating the tweet, and it’s safe to say they take the threat very seriously.

The account has already been deleted, and hopefully it was all just an ill-advised prank. However, police (and Penn State) aren’t laughing.
