Following Ohio State’s stunning loss at Purdue on Oct. 20, many pundits began speculating that this would be coach Urban Meyer’s final season at the school.

The Buckeyes’ disappointing performance only exacerbated the issues swirling around Meyer all season — the investigation into whether he knew of a former assistant’s alleged abuse of his ex-wife, and chronic headaches that have visibly pained Meyer on the sidelines.

Meyer addressed rumors of his retirement during his Monday press conference, telling reporters he intends to return to Ohio State next season.

Meyer has good reason to stick around — the Buckeyes are still in the running for this year’s College Football Playoff despite the loss to Purdue, and Ohio State fields one of the most talented teams in the country on a yearly basis.

It seems like the biggest factor in his decision to remain with the school is his health, so as long as he’s feeling well, it looks like Meyer will be a Buckeye for the foreseeable future.
