Virginia appeared set to hire Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott earlier this week, but that move has hit a snag, according to multiple reports.

Both Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports and Richard Johnson of Sports Illustrated reported that negotiations with Elliott are not moving like they once did. Instead, Zenitz reported, Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, a former Alabama assistant, may be among the possibilities for Virginia at this point.

This news came after Anthony Poindexter, Penn State’s co-defensive coordinator, pulled his name out of the running in recent days.

Gattis in recent days won the Broyles Award, given to the top assistant coach in college football. The Michigan offense was one of the best in the country scoring 37.7 points per game and it averaged about 450 yards per game.
