Mike Leach is a national treasure.

The Washington State head coach said Wednesday that Oregon’s Autzen Stadium, which will host his team on Saturday, is the loudest venue in the Pac-12. However, it isn’t the loudest venue he’s been in as a coach or player.

Leach rattled off nine schools — most of which are in the SEC — that he said have louder stadiums than Oregon’s. A couple others, he noted, are comparable.

“Oklahoma is louder, [Texas] A&M is louder, Texas is on the bubble,” Leach said. “Nebraska is definitely louder. LSU is louder. I never went to Alabama. We beat Alabama, but it was at Kentucky.

“Depending whether or not you add the cowbells, Mississippi State is comparable,” Leach added. “Georgia is louder, Florida is louder. Definitely that one end zone at South Carolina is louder. Tennessee is louder.”

Oddly enough, Leach said Arkansas’ secondary venue in Little Rock — War Memorial Stadium — is No. 1 on his list.

“And Little Rock, Arkansas … that’s the loudest place I’ve ever played. Entirely concrete structure. It’s as if you had a football game in the neighbor’s basement and all the kids were yelling louder than hell.”
