Even though he only appeared in seven games last season, South Carolina QB Jake Bentley is already one of the SEC’s brightest young stars.

As he prepares for a full season under center in 2017, Bentley is continuing to draw rave reviews, including a couple from members of the Manning family.

Bentley is participating in the Manning Passing Academy and, according to The State, both Eli and Archie Manning like what they’ve seen from the Gamecocks’ budding star:

“Jake threw it well, right up there with the rest of the big names,” Eli Manning said Friday. “I was really impressed with all of the quarterbacks yesterday. These guys all have strong arms and throw it accurately.”

Archie said South Carolina coach Will Muschamp should be thrilled to have Bentley on the team and expects nothing but good things from Bentley in the future:

“I can see why Will is excited about him,” said Archie Manning, the former Ole Miss and New Orleans Saints quarterback. “He’s going to be a good player. He’s young. Sometimes you can just tell that they are savvy. He’s kind of got it. He’s playing in a tough conference. I’m not saying he’s going to set the world on fire, but you can tell he’s going to be a good one.”

Bentley threw for 1,420 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions in 2016, leading the Gamecocks to a 4-3 mark in his seven games.

As long as he stays healthy, he should improve on all of those numbers when the 2017 season kicks off this fall.
