LaNorris Sellers will remain at South Carolina.
The redshirt freshman Gamecock quarterback has signed a new NIL deal with the program’s collective, The Garnet Trust, confirming he is staying in Columbia and not entering the NCAA transfer portal. Details of the deal were not revealed, but South Carolina insider Brad Crawford shares that it is record-setting for a Gamecock player.
Sellers stepped into the starting quarterback role this season, playing in 11 games to help guide the Gamecocks to a 9-3 record and berth in the Citrus Bowl. He was named the SEC Freshman of the Year for 2024, completing 172-of-265 passes (64.9%) for 2,274 yards, 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while rushing 155 times for 655 yards and 7 scores.
It was down the stretch that Sellers and the Gamecocks surged. South Carolina is on a 6-game winning streak in which Sellers has been spectacular. Over the last 6 games, Sellers has completed 67.1% of his passes for 1,481 yards with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 13-3. He has rushed 84 times for 436 yards, an average of 5.19 yards per game, over that stretch, with 4 scores.
The news of Sellers’ return comes after the Gamecocks landed a notable depth piece and possible future starter in Ohio State transfer Air Noland. Sellers and the Gamecocks face Illinois in the Citrus Bowl on Tuesday.
