Air Noland has picked the Gamecocks.

On Monday, the former 4-star quarterback committed to transfer to South Carolina. He was a top-60 prospect who signed with Ohio State out of the 2024 class, but then watched the Buckeyes load up the quarterback room ahead of him and opted to hit the transfer portal once the regular season ended. He did not play a snap for the Buckeyes this season and will move to South Carolina with 4 years of eligibility remaining.

It’s a curious win for coach Shane Beamer, but a major win nonetheless. South Carolina is set at quarterback for the immediate future with LaNorris Sellers, who won’t be eligible for the NFL Draft until after the 2025 season. Sellers just completed his first year as a full-time starter and closed strong. It would be a major upset if Noland took the job away from Sellers ahead of the 2025 campaign, which means he’s likely sitting for a bit longer.

Still, Noland figures to be the heir apparent whenever Sellers does decide to take the next step. And he gives South Carolina a backup with a ton of promise.

The 6-foot-2, 192-pound passer starred at Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes. As a junior in high school, Noland threw 55 touchdowns, the second-most in a single season in Georgia high school football history. The Langston Hughes offense also set a state record for points (792) that year as the program won its first-ever state title.

In the industry-generated 247 Composite, Noland was the fourth-ranked quarterback in the 2024 class and the eighth-ranked recruit from the state of Georgia. He was the 56th-ranked recruit in his class overall.

The Gamecocks also signed Anderson (S.C.) Westside quarterback Cutter Woods in the 2025 class.
