In the biggest college football news of the day, the South Carolina Gamecocks relieved fifth-year head coach Will Muschamp of his duties on Sunday.

With many already speculating on his possible replacement, Scott Eisberg, Sports Director for the Charleston, South Carolina-based WCIV, reached out to one possible candidate, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers head coach Jamey Chadwell, and his response was one for the books.

Chadwell is in his second full season at the helm of the Chanticleers, who are in Conway, South Carolina, about 140 miles southeast of Columbia.

Also serving as the program’s interim head coach for the 2017 season while Joe Moglia was on medical leave, Chadwell, who played his college football at East Tennessee State from 1995-99, has posted a 15-16 (9-12 Sun Belt Conference) record at Coastal Carolina, including a 7-0 (5-0) mark in 2020.

Prior to joining the Chanticleers, he was the head coach of the North Greenville Crusaders from 2009-11, Delta State Statesmen in 2012, and Charleston Southern Buccaneers from 2013-16.

Tied with the Marshall Thundering Herd for the No. 15 spot in the November 15 Associated Press Poll, Coastal Carolina is scheduled to host the Appalachian State Mountaineers (6-1, 4-0 Sun Belt) on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.

South Carolina, meanwhile, who named offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo their interim head coach, will welcome in the Missouri Tigers (2-3) at 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
